Bannerman Ruin On The Hudson

Dimensions 24 × 30 in

About This Work

Bannerman Island Castle was built as an arsenal in the early 1900's. An explosion of stored gunpowder did extreme damage to the building. Years later a fire destroyed it even more. Today it is a tourist attraction. It is located just below Beacon, NY on the Hudson River. If the perspective in the painting looks a bit off, the reason is that when they built the place, it was done with hardly any right angles or parallel walls.
